ZX12R Kaput

Post by PeteZX12 »

Went to start my 2006 ZX12R yesterday morning when the whole lot gave up the ghost in the driveway. Nothing. No lights, no immobiliser light flashing. Nothing. I checked the battery (13V on the meter), checked the battery terminals & connections, checked all the fuses including the main 30A fuse behind the battery. All are OK. Even used a meter to check fuses and not relied on a visual. I can see no obvious damaged cabling. Until yesterday morning everything ran perfectly. It has got me geschtumped. I am thinking maybe there is a fault in the ignition switch but it looks to me like a bugger to dismantle. Any ideas?

My ZZR used to have the same thing happen on a reasonably regular basis, I used to fix it by hitting the seat - I know you said you checked your battery terminals and connections - but my problem was fixed when someone more with more technical know how than me came along and checked the wiring and connections to the battery and found the issue was a loose wire / connection... dontknow.gif

even though the battery reads a nominal 13V - change it. Its stuffed.

I have earth continuity, measured from battery earth terminal to chassis. Battery volts have dropped to 10V. I suspect Mr Gosling is right.......the battery (purchased 6 months ago) is rooted. Thanks.
