Hi guys due to a prang with a 4x4 my z 750 has gone to heaven, now in the market for another but cant decide on a 636 or another z.havent ridden a ninja yet,is there much power low down in the rev range for riding round town etc, alsois wrist ache much of a prob or just a matter of getting used to the extra weight on hands.. its mostly the power difference i need to know if its really noticable, cheers, merry xmas

Like chalk n cheese
The zeddy is good for comfort & round town, the six is real sporty with a heap of top end & likes to be kept up there. The riding position of the six is surprisingly good ... I have arthritis in my hands & fingers & its not too bad with the six but perfect on the zeddy, If you are young & want a sports bike then go for the six...... I bought my zeddy because it was within my budget at the time, I will go back to a zeddy later when the sports bikes are either too hard for me to ride or I loose the urge for it. The six develops its power totally differently to the zeddy & this will be noticeable as soon as you roll off on a test ride, it does not develop much power down low but it does make up for it later, if you are after lots of low down torque then look else wear.
After riding a new 600 & comparing it to the 636, the later wins hands down the 05 - 06 636 is the pick of the day

Re: 636 vs z 750?
My previous bike to the 10R was an 04 CBR1000RR and it was a fab bike. So easy to ride my granny could throw a leg over and cope. That said, a while back I had an 04 Z750 and loved it! Sweet, sweet bike. Positives are ease of use, comfortable with very good mid range and a fair bit of power. Very good value. Negatives would be average brake feel and power and bouncy wouncy in the corners. I have also recently ridden a ZX-6R before deciding on an unwanted 06 ZX10R with 600 KM's on it (showroom condition). The 10R reminded me far more of the Z 750 but with MUCH MUCH more torque, perfect fueling and the ability to trounce most anything without revving past 5,000 RPM. The 10R will pull from 4,000 RPM in top on freeway and leave ANYTHING in it's wake. I tried this on a 600 and it was pathetic. It barely accelerated. At least the Z 750 would pull quickly from 4,000 RPM at 100 KMH in top. The 600 needed 8,000 RPM in top before it started to accelerate at all.((((
To be perfectly honest I found the 10R so much easier to ride than both the Z 750 and the 600. It's lighter than the Z 750, handles and turns in about 300% faster, has astonishing brake feel and power and rarely needs to be revved past 6,000 RPM. So relaxing...
I'll grant you the 10 does feel "slightly" heavier to chuck about than the 600 but for me personally I didn't find it a problem as the 10R is by all accounts quite a light bike when one considers the other behemoths that travel our roads. Also as I don't ride like a demon on the road, it doesn't bother me. All I know is I can ride the twisties and or the freeway with maybe a couple gear changes all day long on the 10R. I mean this thing makes 100 rear wheel HP @ 7,000 RPM! Heck it makes 80 rear wheel HP @ 6,000 RPM. The 600's need 12,000 RPM to get 100 rear wheel HP!!!! And at 6,000 RPM they make a pathetic 38 rear wheel horsepower. And yes I know a ZX-6R is some 15 kilos lighter, however the sheer "lack" of grunt makes for a LOT of cog swapping. It drove me bonkers!! Something I rarely did with the Z 750 and NEVER do with the 10R. It's a no brainer.
Just get a litre bike. You'll never die not knowing what it's like to ride a true super bike. LOL!!!

Yes even an 06 ZX10R can be ridden like a scooter........ Just don't rev past 2,000 RPM.

Re: 636 vs z 750?
My 1st bike was a 2008 Z750 which was taken out by a cager.
I got my insurance money and had a similar dilemma but decided to go for a ZX10R.
zx10Rscooter is right, just get the thou.
I commute on mine everyday and it's fine.
Your wrists may be sore for a while but they strengthen up.
As for manouvreablility in traffic, just fold the mirrors back and go for it.
As long as you can control a throttle, bet the ZX10R and you will never look back.

If I didn't have my ZX7R if would definitely be a black Z750!
I could not conceive riding a 10R around on the streets, but that's just myself.

I find the 10 easy around the burbs commuting, a great weekender. Comfy enough for touring, lazy riding etc
I've ridden a 636 on track and road. Reckon it's a great piece of kit. Would be fine around town too. Never ridden a Z so can't compare sorry but robracer can't get his hands away from 636's!
Ride a 636 and let us know what u think! I don't think you'll be dissapointed
