Attaching seat on ZX9 tracky
With the road gear you put the ducktail on, attach the seat and then put the pillion seat or cover on the ducktail. As the race ducktail is all one piece my weary brain can't work out another way to attach the seat with the ducktail in place.

Re: Attaching seat on ZX9 tracky
There is a small bracket and screw that screws rider seat onto the frame, does the one piece ducktail cover that?

Yeah it comes right down behind the seat and the original bracket comes from inside the ducktail. Only way I can see it to put some sort of screw up from the bottom but not sure.mick_dundee wrote:There is a small bracket and screw that screws rider seat onto the frame, does the one piece ducktail cover that?

On mine yo get to the bolt from under the back of the ducktail but my sub frame has been completly gutted. On others I have seen that they cut a small hole in the tail to access the bolt through the top.

Just screw straight throught the top of the seat
You end up with two small holes, but the foam covers the screw heads, it's only a trackie....

Re: Attaching seat on ZX9 tracky
I could get to the original bolt mount from under the ducktail on my old 9.

Re: Attaching seat on ZX9 tracky
Mine is a bit different to Paul's. Ignore the lifting blocks I fitted to it to raise the seat but you can see the front and back brackets that hold the seat down. I get it on and off with a Phillips head screwdriver poked through the top cover at the back of the seat. I will have to get more pics tomorrow to show you what I mean.

Re: Attaching seat on ZX9 tracky
Thanks everyone. Nelso's the same as mine (F series). Just been out taking a photo. The original rear bracket mounts high in the ducktail so looks like the high tech fix is to screw through the top of the seat as smithy5 suggested too.
Takes me to try to find the hard way to do it...hehehe
The black bracket just behind the fuse carrier is what the seat rests on and the holding bracket slots into the back of the seat at then attaches to the higher cross bracket high up in the front of the ducktail.
