Shift lights and Gear Indicators

Post by DjDante »

I am looking to bling up my instrument panel a little bit, maybe have some more fancy number glaring in my face as I ride.

Was wandering if anyone could tell me whether the speedo and tacho on the 98 ZX9R is digital or cable? I have looked at a few different Gear indicators, namely the ones on http://www.motofx.com.au , and the brand called Acumen which are readily available on Ebay.

Also wanted to know if anyone knew whether Car shift lights can be used on motorbikes? I ask, because they are much cheaper than the only ones I have seen for motorbikes (again at motofx).

Any other ideas for the rider display welcome.

This is a pretty bling unit that you could also use as a christmas tree light and is programable in so many ways.

I dont know what prices you have seen but its a good local product.

those look cool, but don't know if i'd ever use it... just shift when you hit the limiter.... works a treat, and don't have to look at anything... got sound and feel to tell you that you need the next gear!

Just like the gear indicator, its not about the functionality, its more about how sexy it looks ;)

I take it you dont approve of my blingosophy?

I just want to make it original, and its nice to have lots of displays in front of you while you ride.

Dont know about you guys but if i have my bike cranked over and screaming the last thing i look at is the dash....my bike has a shift light stock and i set that to 12500 to allow for a little over run...the engine would die before the limiter ever got hit because it will run to 14500 rpm and run out of wind with a redline at 15500rpm.

The idea of the light is you can program it so its on one green at 8000rpm and the whole lot flash at say 13000 rpm which is more or less the useable range on a 04 636 yeh you could run it harder but it will last longer if you dont.

on a cbr250the useable range is between 12000 and 17000rpm and if you drop out of that range your going to be waiting a long time for it to wind up again.

Hey i believe a nine has power from 3000rpm.
