Hi Guys, got a slight problem with my old 1984 Gpz 900r.
When she's warmed up and from standstil pulling away she hesitates from low revs but if i gun it ,she revs no worries. This only happens at low revs ( 1200-2500rpm) in nearly all the gears. Idle is ok, it's just when you go to pull away you think you are out of petrol when your'e not.
HELP.
Paul

Hi Paul welcome to KSRC
Your carbs probably need a really good clean...... as in disassembly & clean
sounds like the primary jets could be gummed up & there is nothing like a carb overhaul & sync to bring back the old girl.

Welcome to KSRC Paul
Sorry I have no idea what the problem may be. Listen to Rob and the other experienced riders here - you won't go wrong

Mine did it a bit too when I had my 900- I think from memory I had dodgy needles and seats. Might be a small hole in the fuel tap diaphragm too. Common problem with the GPZ.

Re: Gpz 900R splutter
Again welcome to KSRC Paul - there are a few resident GPZ guru's on here so you should be fine .
GPZ900r's have a big issue with the carb boots not sealing properly (head side) mainly due to oil contaminated (soft) engine mounts and an airbox designed by complete F/wits as far as serviceability is concerned!?
1st - with the bike running @ idle and up to operating temp , CO cleaner or similar at each carb boot. if the idle smoothes out / revs rise, you have an air leak which will cause the issues you describe.
Next ; refer Robs post.

Hey Paul
Keep an eye on fleecebay for CARBURETTOR BALANCE GAUGE / CARBURETTOR SYNCHRONISER GAUGE sets.. they are on from time to time ex USA normally. Bout $120.00 for a decent gauge set you would pay $400 + easily retail here . Not to hard to use but the results of a nicely balanced set of carbs is AWESOME . Once you check for air leaks and make sure the carbs bowls are clean/pilots even etc , carb synch is the next step .
>>>Just make sure you take said gauge set plus a box of main and air bleeds in case you find yourself too high up a mounain pass or something .......
Just ask Gos ,,,, he'll explain what I mean
