Close calls!

Post by ZX9erguy »

Took the bike out for the first good ride in a few weeks, wheather being what it is in melbourne.. I learnt to ride motorbikes in the centre of sydney so i figure my 6 years of experiance there should cover me anywhere.. Not so.. after riding for an hour or so 3 cars had nearly wiped me out. One of which i was level with his drivers window. His reply when i upped him at the next round about "yeah i saw you but you are a bike you dont need a full lane" Anyways i was wondering if anyone else had similar experiances.

Like Rob says, you have to assume that all cagers had a couple of drinks and they don't realy care about you.. if you take on that kind of attitude your chance of survival just doubled. :kuda:

I had a mindless twit in a minivan not see me and change lanes on top of me today, and I was in my 4wd! The idiot had no idea until I blasted my horn. If I had not hit the brakes and avoided him he would have wiped out the side of his car on my bull-bar and tyres (looking back, that would've been fun to see). Some people just don't look at all, much less for bikes.

Had a guy cut me off in a roundabout, when I upped him he gave me the bird! I then gave him a size 9 boot print in his door, maybe he'll think about it next time before being so nasty.

I hear ya Nelso, a year or two ago i was heading across the harbour bridge in the bus lane when some pharking clown in a car decided he just had to be in my lane (the bus lane), hit me just on the front wheel, could have been ugly had I not actually been a passenger in a BUS. Shame it didn't crush him to a bloody pulp, still can't have everything.

A mate once told me, "assume they are all trying to kill you", unfortunately cagers are not that predictable, more likely assume they will do the most ridiculous thing possible in every situation and you won't be far off the mark.

Glad you survived it.

cheers

Lucky for dumb cages my brother doesnt drive semis anymore. He used to get sick of stupid people diving up the inside of him when turning left,so every now and then he would promtly squash one with the rear of the trailer against a gutter of traffic light.Said it used to brighten up his day sometimes ;)

Sorry Guys, I ignore this stuff when people talk about it, but I won't be encouraged to do so and act illegally, and I believe immorally and possibly dangerously to myself.

I won't be damaging the property of an honest person who made a simple mistake driving a car, who did no damage to me or my property.

We all know we're very hard to see on bikes in the first place, and riding bikes IS dangerous, that's OUR risk. We put ourselves on the road and near that car in the first place, and people are going to not see us!

I also would NEVER risk damaging a potential psycho's car:

1. Car driver cuts off bike rider but does not hit them
2. Bike rider damages car
3. Car driver snaps and slams bike rider into the guard rail

That's the world we live in.

:?

""Road rage accident leaves man in critical condition
Officers say just before the collision, 50-year-old Michael Rakes got into an altercation with 32-year-old Kris Prinster who threw a cigarette out her car window. Michael became upset and pulled alongside Prinster's car to yell at her. "The one girl in front of us threw a cigarette back, and my dad went up to tell her he didn't appreciate it," Jeffrey said.
Lt. Paul Child, with the Centerville Police Department, said, "This woman started to speed up in an attempt to move ahead of him, and he sped up alongside of her and continued having some sort of a confrontation as they were traveling northbound."
Jeffrey said, "So then she swerved and hit him, then we went flying.""

etc etc etc.......
