1996 zx-7r rear bake light switch and mystery box

Post by Gman »

hi everyone, i was looking over my bike which i've had for about 2 years now and i noticed a box that i've never seen before. it has 2 grey buttons on the side of it. it is mounted to the frame under the seat. I'm not very mechanical......is it a alarm or a aftermarket part. can anyone shed light on this? the picture is below. Also i was wondering the best solution for a rear brake light switch that sticks.

+1 deffinately don't think its a stock bit. you might have to follow the wires and find out what its attached to. that should give you a hint.

Wattie was being a smartarse, power commanders only work on efi bikes, which yours is not.

if it was close to the engine bay then i would hazard a guess that it could be a high energy spark kit. If it was towards the tail, wellll then im not so sure, but it'd be a silly place to put a high energy kit unless there wasn't an alternate place to mount it.

I had a shitty old mazda 626 years ago that had a redback alarm fitted to it. The funny thing was it kept going off and the owner got the royal shits with it, so he had it totally bypassed and until the day i got rid of it, the alarm sat there and never did a damned thing.
