Dub's GPz750

Post by dub »

Its a 1982 Kawasaki GPz750. Just bought it, pick it up next weekend.

These were the sellers pics, more pics when i get it home.

Its in pretty good nick and starts easily, there might be some work required (it is 27 years old) as it has a slight rattle before it gets warm that the owner thinks is the timing chain and the clutch probably needs looking at at some stage too. All in all not bad for the price I paid.

Not sure about the red headers.

Nice old classic.
I think you will find the rattle will be your primary chain , common with these earlier models
Clutch baskets to.
The secret is balnce the carbs , bump up idle to around 1300 rpm and see how it goes.
Wouldn't hurt to do the Cam chain but replace the tensioner while your at it.
Repalcing the primary chain is a big job and although fitting a newy will stop the dredded rattle it will more
than likely reappear within around 10,000 k's so really not worth it .

Updated pic...sandblasted the headers and pipe and painted it black. I've also picked up some bar-end mirrors as all I saw with the OEM mirrors was the inside of my shoulders.

Indeed it does !! I started the enormous job of spring-cleaning the workshop the other day - its coming along nicely......and also made a bit of a dint in the 4th, but that will need another 20 or 30 hours before its clean !! :x :x :x Its amazing the sorts of things that are unearthed in a good clean.....
