A 33-YEAR-old motorcyclist riding with a group of eight others has died after crashing into trees south of Melbourne.
Police said early reports indicated the man, riding a Harley Davidson, was leading a group of eight motorcyclists on the Glen Alvie Rd near Grantville when he lost control after rounding a bend about midday on Sunday.
The man, believed to be from Cranbourne in Melbourne's outer southeast, crashed into a drain and nearby trees.
Attempts to revive him were unsuccessful and he died at the scene.
Two other male motorcyclists also crashed trying to avoid the accident.
They were taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with serious injuries.
The fatality takes Victoria's road toll to 123, six less than at the same time last year.
Condolances to his family and to anyone who knew this rider.....
