Motul 7100
A friend recomended I use Motul 7100 in my 95 zxr750, the bloke who owned the bike first always used Motul 5100. 7100 is full synth, 5100 is semi synth...I was using a shell 20/40 recommended by some sales guy at Kelen Kawasaki in Penrith, but it wasn't getting the oil to the top end on cold start up.. The bikes got 45,000 klms on the clock. Any feed back would be great..Cheers Gav..

You can't go wrong with 5100. Full synth would be a waste I think. I don't even use it in the 10

Re: Motul 7100
LOL I think people like 5100 (me too).
If it's a '95 and 45000k, you'll probably be best off with semi-synth.
I've heard (but don't know for sure) that fully synth can do stuff to older engines that haven't used it - cleans out some extra gunk that the engine's 'gotten used to' - or something like that.
Could be a load of baloney though.

If you have no fear, you're not going fast enough.

Hey mate, what about viscosity ratings and all that stuff, is it the same as the bike oil ?2006zx10r wrote:use a semi syth top line diesel truck oil. Many guys using this.. Cheap and really good.

Re: Motul 7100
I seem to remember years ago that using diesel oil was recommended but had to be careful as it was a high detergent oil so should be used from new. When used on older engines it cleaned out all old deposits/residue etc and clogged filters and oil channels so stopped oil reaching bearings etc.
These recollections are from the 70's so may not be applicable with todays oils...
