Another newbie question
Hey guys and gals,
I've just purchased a custom plate for my bike. I may put it on this bike, and if I do, my question is this;
If I then purchase a new bike (which I am in September) do I take the plate into the dealer for them to register my new bike with??
I've seen the FAQ's on vic roads, but it doesn't actually tell you what you do when you're purchasing a new vehicle which you want to put the plate on. It just says yes you can do it.
Have any of you wise old heads got any info for me? I'm sure some of you have custom/personalised plates where you've purchased a new bike and put them on???
Cheers
Lisa

you have to get new plates (with a bike- ONE plate) as you take off the custom plate (this will Cost)
and
as you do..you tell vic roads the custom plate is off and they 'hold' it for you...that is the plate belongs to you
but does NOT belong to a vehicle
then you take the plate for the new vehicle to the seller (MUST be a LMCT) and get them to put it on
and they tell VicRoads the plates is now allocated to a vehicle (you may have to sign a VicRoads form to do this)
that make sense?
its actually quite easy
cheers

Re: Another newbie question
Just recently traded a car with personalised plates, drove in the old car with my personal plates on, drove out with my new car with my personal plates on, they just changed them over in the dealership, didnt have to see vic roads or anyone.

Re: Another newbie question
Thanks everyone for your advice. Yep it seems pretty easy. I'd say I will have to do two posts up scenario, as I would be selling my bike privately if I get a better sale price.
But yeah that sounds easy to do. Thanks again.
Now I am about to put the new one on and contact them at 8.30

Re: Another newbie question
Ahhhhh thats who it was!! You passed me on the M7 the other week (I was in a cage)......took me from the M4 entrance until the Sunnyholt Rd exit to work out what "AJNIN" was!!! LOL - not a dig at the plate by any means........I was on my way back from a weekend away with the girls and was totally sleep deprived so the brain wasn't engaged. Once I worked it out I giggled all the way homeDISCO wrote:I have a personalised plate "AJNIN" and no i'm not a lebo.....You can just transfer it or put it on hold untill you get a new bike....

Re: Another newbie question
OK, it took me a bit to work out what AJNIN was. If you hadn't have mentioned not being a lebo, I would have got it straight away. DOH!
I do this with my racing form guide too, always working out what horses names mean. Some are often spelled backwards. My favourite horses name (although not spelled backwards) almost became my number plate too. CRAWL
Cheers

Re: Another newbie question
isn't that too short to be a racing horse's name?
I thought they all had to be something like 'Jo blow's imaginary wet dream he'd have if he wasn't a short arse jockey' ... 'crawl'.
