93 GPX250 a few questions
Hi all let me start off by saying long time lurker first time poster.
I have just got my self my learners and a 93 GPX at 43 some people might say better late than never, any way I have a few questions if I may. I love riding the bike and it goes well, considering I'm 6' 3" and weigh 107kg. Poor little thing.... any way when I get over I think it's about 80km there is a red 'speed' light that comes on, what i'd like to know is there any way to turn this off as I don't like red lights, I always think that there is something wrong. The second thing is I already have the service manual downloaded from the net but I cannot for the life of me find the Owners Manual would any one have any idea as to where I might find one. any help would be great.

Definitely better late than never. I'm no lighter than you and did about 60,000 km's on my ZZR-250s so there's no reason to think the GPX wont be up to the task. Dunno about your speed light or an owners manual, but welcome nonetheless.

Re: 93 GPX250 a few questions
Mate I had a GPX and I don't remember a 'speed light'
. Having said that mine was a 2000 model...
The only red light I remember is the oil pressure warning (i.e. you're about not have any). Given you're big lad (FWIW I'm a midget) it may be struggling. Check the oil level asap, and maybe even the sender unit.
Welcome to the forum, good to see the older first-time riders in here. I'm 45 in May, only been riding for 8-9 years, wondering wtf I went wrong years ago and wtf I didn't take it up sooner...
...actually I know the answer to that, I was married for twenty years.
I'll have a hunt for the owner's manual for you. To broaden you search criteria you will need to remember the GPX is called a 'Ninja 250R' in the US.
Have a look through here when you have an hour or two to spare: http://www.ninja250.org/

Re: 93 GPX250 a few questions
Thanks Mick, the light is definatly for 'speed' as it says speed on it and only comes on once i get above about 80k's....goes off when I drop below 80, I was thinking that maybe it's a throw back to when 'L' and 'P' platers couldnt or should I say shouldn't have gone over 80k's. It's such a pain to look down ans see 'RED'

I think it's standard I'll take a photo tonight, if I thought I could take one at 85k's I would.....but that would be just stupid of me....

May sound like i'm taking the piss here but i'm not (for once), why not just stick a little black tape over the light? Problem solved. Fuck i'm good lol
Alternatively and still rather easy, remove the globe.
