Schumacher crashes testing superbike

Post by ZXR750 »

Taken from Daily Telegraph
SEVEN-time Formula One champion Michael Schumacher was admitted to hospital overnight after crashing during superbike testing at a race track in the Spanish city of Cartagena, local officials said.

The online edition of sports daily Marca, citing sources at the circuit, said the 40-year-old had broken two ribs, complained of pains in his neck and wrist and was unconscious for several minutes after the accident.

The newspaper said Schumacher underwent a brain scan "which ruled out serious injuries despite the strong impact his head had against the ground.''

A spokesman for the Virgen de Arrixaca Hospital in the nearby city of Murcia confirmed he had been taken to the hospital but was not able to provide information regarding the extent of his injuries.

Thats a bit harsh. Whay can't he enjoy his retirement? He has earn't the right to have some fun and spend his money how he wants. He is also pretty competitive considering he claims it is only a hobbie and he has no desire to race competitively.

from what I gather, Schumaker is a bit handy on two wheels too!!!! From memory, when he first had a crack at one he was only about 4 or 5 sec's of SBK pace out of the box. I also read that his times dropped quickly after more time on the bike and that he has run competitively at national domestic level. All in all, he IS fast for a bloke who doesn't take it as anything more than a Hobbie!!! Good on him I reckon!!! Another Bike rider who had a little go at cars for a while...what's wrong with that? It was OK for Gardener wasn't it???? :kuda:

Schumacher's a natural racer, 2 or 4 makes no difference. Good on him
