Two answers needed ... (C2-9)

Post by Richo »

ok ... should be a quickie, but would like some qualified answers. .. 99 zx9 c2

1. New baby seems to run hot ... bars up to 4 LED's mostly and real quick, have noticed it to 5 occasionally ... is this normal? .. or should I infuse her with a higher concentrate of coolant

2. Front tyre ... I have shagged the BT 012 (yeah, its old. .. get over it) and can get a real cheap qualifier on for $100 ... question is, will this tyre be ok? (Shinny reckons its a real slider) .. have any others out there had any probs? .. .. this is more an economic choice for the time being as must replace said tyre .... then in a month or so am gonna whack some pilots on there :D

ta in advance ;)

And on the seventh day Richo ended his work which he had made. Decided resting was for soft cox, straddled the REX and headed up the old road.
And it was good

2. I personally would steer away from qualifiers. I never liked them and my rear did slide a lot. If you can, get something else mate ;)

1. Mine's been running at 4 bars since it's been hotter, was at 3 when it was a bit cooler, had it up to one off the red one creeping up the hill at Cape Byron! tends to go to 5 sitting at the lights.

Are you sure it's an 012? I thought it had 010s on it? Anyway, I've got an 012 front in the garage that will probably get you through a month that you're welcome to if you're hard up. I personally haven't used a Dunlop road tyre since the D207 days, and I hated it (I hated the Redline slicks I ran once too), but, plenty of people use them quite successfully including the Superbike School, so they must be OK. I dunno how well they'll play with an 010 or 012 rear though.

Same as everyone else, mine hangs around 3 bars in "normal" weather, 4 bars in hot weather and might hit 5 when stopped at the lights, so it sounds pretty normal.

I had a set of qualifiers on the bike when I bought it, then I bought another set because I didn't know any better. I didn't realise they were shit until I switched to the pilot powers, much better :D (of course tyres are a personal thing, but most people I have spoken to didn't like the qualifiers)

Dunny q's are shit and I got em back and front currently till they wear out (didn't know they were shit till I tried em) and as for heat, same as above, 4 bars farly often 5 a bit and then thermo fan kicks in and it's sweaty balls time. I have the custom made Pontikat Raddectr on too.

Thanks all for ya input.

Ive only just recently flushed the old coolant out and replaced with new stuff, and by the sounds of all the other intelligent people out there (9 riders :kuda: ), what Im experiencing is quite normal .. so thanks for the reasurance guys. ;)

Re tyre .. will not be fitting the qualifier as I dont really wish to be sliding around corners .. unless Im on the dirt of course :D

Will probably pinch Dave's 012 to see me out til the rear is wasted then get the PP's :D

As long as the fans comming on and the temperature doesnt keep rising after that it should be cool, 4 bars is pretty normal in the city during summer.
