Replacing clip-ons

I realise it's not a kwaka but figured I would ask here to save me going to an unfamiliar forum

I have a new set of Gilles GP lite handlebars for my Aprilia RS250. I will obviously have to remove the top yoke but I'm just wondering whether I need to undo the main bolt that goes down into the steering stem?

I will upload a picture shortly to make it a tad clearer. I'm hoping that I will be able to just undo the two pinch bolts on the top yoke and slide it up and off... but that seems waaaay to simple.

Can't you just undo the pinch bolts at the top and bottom triple clamp holding the forks, lower the forks and take of the clip ons.?

AH! Good thinking 99! I guess I should buy that front head stand that I've been wanting to buy. Why on earth did I not think of that... damn i like trying to do things the hard way.

Another question. The existing handlebars will obviously have holes in them to locate the electrics and throttle to stop them from spinning around the bars... what's the usual procedure for taking these across to the aftermarket bars? mark and drill?

Measure twice, drill once

don't be too fussed about removing that one mate - the main nut (which holds the front end together) is actually *underneath* the top clamp. You can undo both pinch bolts, remove the centre nut, lift the top clamp off (and replace existing bars), without the front-end falling apart or anything like that.
