need help!!!! asap!!!! PLZ!!!

i just recently put a 250 2000 gpx motor in my bike..... i left the old carbies in..... now i seem to be having quite a few problems with what seems to be lagg.... ( i back off and it takes a while for it to lower its revs).... should i sought after the 2000 model carby or should i get away with what i already got???.... thanks heaps for ur help as its greatly appreaciated

Where are you located Robert? It might be easier for somebody to look at your bike - diagnosing issues over the Internet can be tough.

First thing I'd look at is make sure you have a return spring on the throttle assembly. After that check for float levels, sticking needles, vacuum leaks and then foreign objects in the carbs holding them open.

If the carbies on the gpx are similar to the zzr i used to have (from all acounts the rest of the bike is similar) the throttle has a second cable which pulls it back rather than relying on the return spring to close the butterfly (not 100% on my terminoligy, so feel free to correct me )

You sure the throttle cable isnt just rusted and therefore sliding back slowly? When you back off on the throttle and you pull it open again do you feel a different pressure?

it actually has a opening and closing throttle cable as I thought. maybe try oiling both cables first and see what happens?

If you can oil them you must be able to see them move right? Have a look to see if it is closing smoothly...

First of all check that the cables are not binding or crimped ? are they routed the correct way.
Then ensure the correct free play adjustment (both the pull and the return cables need to be done ) check this on both steering locks. (I once had a bike that would increase speed on left hand corners mysteriously ) Lubricate with a light oil, the throttle should snap shut from any throttle position, if the problem still exists further investigation will be necessary.
