Hey all,
Ive been looking through posts and noticing some people going from a 190 to a 180 rear on various bikes. I read a MCN (?) article where a french guy was racing a Z1000 and the first thing he did was change to a 180 rear. I have some good ex track rubber in the shed 120 and 180 rears though but i thought bugger it Ill throw them on my Z1000 next week and see. Ive read it speeds up turns etc. Has anyone out there done this ? a first hand opinion would be better than here say! just incase im doing the completly wrong thing.... I may miss the wide arse rear end tho
I did this on my ZX9, Yes it turned in better but straight line stability was down and I rolled of the edge of the tyre to often.
This made it move around on power outta corners. I went back to a 190 and have had no problems since. Give it a go and judge for yourself, you might like it.
I put 180/55's on an 04 zx10 and they felt good. easier tip in and good stability in corners. If the rubbber is really sticky then you can give it a fair bit coming out too.
