Hey all,
Noticed the other (hot) day that when I turned the bike off, the fan kept running on my Zed! This must be, I assume, usual for all zeds ( ive never had a bike do this before, and ive had a few...) any idea how long it goes for etc?. I didnt want to leave it running so I started it up an ran the motor till the fan turned off.
Thanks

Re: Z1000 rad fan question
It doesn't go for long, it will turn itself off when the bike cools down enough as it is temperate controlled

Re: Z1000 rad fan question
As the others have said it wont got for too long, but from memory I've never had a bike that *didn't* do it.

Re: Z1000 rad fan question
My ZX636 did it, my ZX9 and ZX10r both did it, the Z1000 fan comes on at 104c and thats really only pottering aorund in traffic. All my bikes have the fan running until the bike is cool enough, but if you cut the engine and try to get a bit of a breeze onto the motor it should be fine!
Even if the fan runs for a while it shouldnt matter, if you start your bike and the starter motor is kicking over strong or you know you have a good battery then it doesnt matter to let it run for a while. If your battery is weak however, then your only real option if your bike is getting really hot adn the fan keeps running is to either install a switch to control your fan or spend $100 on a new battery!

Re: Z1000 rad fan question
Mine clicks in at 100 deg and then clicks off again at 99 like clockwork up here in Brissie. Back in the ACT I only had it come on once and it ran for like 10 seconds then off again. As ttc said It is temp controlled so let it do its thing....of course if it dosen't come on then THAT's bad!!!
