Handling problem?

Post by snowymountainsmick »

I haven't ridden the ZRX1200R for a couple of months, blew the rear brake line, ran out of rego, busy, etc, but took it for a good ride yesterday afternoon.

The problem is at slow speeds it wants to turn in and you really have to put a lot of opposing force on the bars. The problem is not such a problem as the speed picks up, but you can't always gun it in a car park or roundabout. It has always been a bit like this, but I can't remember it being quiet as bad. I couldn't check the tyres yesterday as I didn't have my little 90degree adaptor, I'll do that today.

I am a big guy and the bike shop set up the forks, shocks to suit.

Awesome bike, but a bit of a handful down low. I realise it has a much bigger rear tyre than my ol' BM and will never be as controllable at walking pace, I love almost scraping doing a walking pace U turn on the Beemer, but I'd end up on my nose if I tried that on the Kwacka.

Yeah thats what I thought, but rather then get my finger out and go down the road and fix it I am sitting here surfing the net. Thanks, Mick.

Been out of riding for 20 odd years, bit rusty, got the riding part ok (careful, but ok), the rest of it filters back slowly.

:D

Run em at std pressures, should be about 36 front and 40 or 41 rear and see how it goes.

We have quite a few guys on here with rex's and I haven't heard too many bad things about them..

yeah, I'm a dickhead, put 36psi in both as recomended (no load, apart from my huge frame). Worked like a dream. I knew that was probably the answer, but sit in front of the puter and drink enough cheap plonk and anything sounds reasonable. Went for a ride to Yetholme on it tonight, went like a dream. Do'Oh!!
