Re: changing the generator cover
As in the "stator" cover ?
I had to replace it on the ZX9R 99 model. Its easy as mate.
Just remove everything thats in the way of it, i think from memory the overflow is the only thing.
1. Undo all the bottles around the outer edges, i think there is about 10
2. It will be stuck on magnetically, so use a bit of grunt becaues the cover is metal and will be attracted to the magnets in a strong way, so dont be scared to give it a good yank!
3. Replace the gasket or reuse what u got,
4. With the cover partly off, pull out all the bits connected to the case inside and just let them hang
5. I put a little loctite around the gasket for a good tight seal.
6. Put everything back in place in the new case cover.
7. Try line it up well first time so loctite doesnt go everywhere and also be mindful that its magnetic and will try and attract in all sorts of weird ways!
8. once its lined up, u wont need to hold it cause hte magnets will, just line it up then bang all hte bolts in!
9. replace everything you took off.
10. Open Can of favourite beverage.
11. Enjoy.
Thanks

Re: changing the generator cover
Be mindfull of the rubber Grommet ..... it will probably need some high temp gasket goo around it before refitting it, dont find out the hard way as I did recently at a track day with oil spraying on the back tyre
due to a leak from the gromet
