Well, i went on holidays to Thailand for just over two weeks and upon returning on Tuesday, one of the first things i want to do is take the bike for a ride.
I tried started her up with the choke on but it just wouldn't kick over. After attempting for a few minutes, of course the battery starts to run dry and now I'm lucky to get the starter going for 1 second.
One weird issue is i cannot roll start it. If i put it into 1st or 2nd and pull the clutch in it won't disengage properly. When i push it, it's like I'm pushing it around in gear and requires a lot of effort and can't get any speed up to roll start.
It's going to mechanic on Saturday and I'm trying to get a battery charger tonight off a friend to attempt to start it up normally again. But, i think there is more to it than that, plus I'm not a fan of taking off the seat/fairing to get to the battery.
I'm curious to know if anyone has run into this sort of issue before and if there is anything simple i might be able to do to fix it. I'm stinging for a ride with this weather!
Any help appreciated,
Cheers
ZXR750 won't start after 2 weeks
Re: ZXR750 won't start after 2 weeks
My ZXR got pulled apart and sat there from this May until about three weeks ago, in various stages of undress, in my shed in a Canberra winter. Started with a little choke pretty much first time when we fired it back up, although we did have the battery on charge for a little of that morning. You've got something draining your battery and/or the battery is dead. Or simple things like the kill switch/sidestand/clutch switches are preventing your start.
Check the voltage if you get it started it should read 13.8-14V if your alternator/regulator etc. are playing the game properly.
