WSBK 2009 vs BEING A BRIDESMAID

Post by ZXRobyn »

Australia will kick off the Superbike World Championship in 2009 with Phillip Island hosting the season’s opening round from Friday February 27 to Sunday March 1.

Well, about a week ago I was asked to be Bridesmaid for a friend of mine. Of course, I accepted without hesitation and was very excited. :) :)

However, after looking into the dates for Superbikes 2009 it would appear that the wedding falls on the same weekend! :x :x    (I mean, why would ya?)

So . . . it's still early, and therefore not too late to decline. I'm curious, would you OR could you ? :? :?

And the money I have to spend on a bridesmaid dress could pay for the SBK w/end too ! !

Get them to have their wedding in Pitt Lane and every one wins.

There will be a WSB every year. So I would honour your commitment to your friend. She may only get married three or four times. Sorry that last coment was cruel. I would put your close friends first.
You can always watch the races on Fox during the day or at least get updates.

They're making you buy your own dress? Pfft last time I was a bridesmaid all I had to shell out for was shoes .

If they're that tight then they will probably understand that you want to go to the supers.

+1 to get them to get married in pit lane. lol

its a tough one.

hmmmmmmmmmmm

if they are really close id say do the wedding and ask if tehy can have a nice big lcd screen so you dont miss a bit of the race.
and ask if you can wear leathers and ride so you feel a part of teh supers lol

Robyn I would have to agree and say Go with the bridesmaid gig, your friend could be torn if you back out, sounds like you need to have a conversation with her to nut it out... be honest & upfront ... & she might let you off the hook :?

My wife had agreed to be matron of honour for a friend ... not a really close friend but the keeper did not hesitate in accepting the role, then she finds out she has to shell out for all the gear dress shoes the whole kit & caboodle then finds out that its going to be a long drawn out day with the wedding at one place pics at another then the reception at another hours later... not happy jan. the wedding is next weekend & I have to drag the kids to this shindig & I don't know anyone I will basically be on my own at a table of strangers with the only kids present at the wedding (they better behave) so we are both going to be uncomfortable.

meah.......I would have questioned how good a friend this person is before committing... isnt hindsight a wonderfull thing

The best thing is talk it out, that is what friends do. :D
If she is a good friend, she will realise just how much of a bike nut you are and could move it a week.
If not, I suggest the wedding might have to take a priority, even if it does hurt

FTR, I was asked to be bridesmaid after the brides' best friend pulled out when she found out her hubby had been cheating on her for last 5yrs, and they are now going thru divorce preceedings - as such she didn't feel up to going to a Wedding !

So. . . . no, it's not my best friend getting married: and no, I wasn't the first choice for Bridesmaid: and I have known the groom years longer than the bride.    :? :?

If the Wedding is at either Marshalls Commonwealth Hotel Orbost, Phillip Island or Tintaldra Hotel on the appropriate date then you don't have too much of a problem but if it isn't.....well....remember you'll be missing the "best days motorcycling ever" and the jugs of Bourbon and Coke at the end of the day and the Moussaka and Chilli combo.

Having said all that a wedding is a wedding and I guess and you don't get too many shots if you miss it, and there'll always be 2010. It'll be a bummer if you can't make the trip though..

...oh and you'll have to answer to this bloke..

I cant believe that they had the nerve to organise their wedding on the same weekend as SBK

Some friends they are... geez!

For me, if its a mates wedding then that would come first
