Deciding On Full Leathers....
Hi all,
I've finally decided on buying a set of leathers. I don't know where to start but you guys might be able to help.
*Two piece of One Piece - What is better? What is the benefit of either two or one piece?
*Is there any problems to look out for when buying Secondhand Leathers?
*Any ideas where to get leathers either new or secondhand relatively cheap. (I'm in Melbourne)
Cheers,
Bones

2 piece for the road & a few track days
1 piece for just track days
might need somewhere to put your mobile phone , packet of smokes , chewing gum plus your wallet & if its for all round use i would go a 2 piece so you have storage compartments

I agree with the above. If it is mainly street and a bit on the track then get an interlockable 2 piece set. That way you can just use the jacket without the pants or the pants with a dry rider

And as for a cheapish place to get em in Melbourne, ebay has a few options other than that torrini in Port Melbourne or Matador in Moorabin can prbably help

Re: Deciding On Full Leathers....
yep same as most other suggested, 2 piece if mostly road riding and a one piece for the track
go to some stores and try on different makes to get your sizing and then start hunting on ebay or US bike sites even with the dollar at 92c at the moment it can still be cheaper

Re: Deciding On Full Leathers....
A one piece offers the better protection at high speed, the jacket and pants are one as such, which is why you will never see a racer with a two piece, as there is no compromise.Bones wrote:Hi all,

However I have had a custom one piece suit for ten years and its a real pain to use for the road. Its hard to get into, hard to get out of, uncomfortable to stand up in, has no pockets, difficult in Summer when you want to peel off and the arms of the top are flapping around your legs, hard to go for a p*ss in, impossible to do the other, is unforgiving when you put on a errh few pounds. I am now looking for a two piece myself that I will also use at track days.
Do youself a favour and buy a two piece if you are going to do any road riding, you can still go for a quality two piece suit that is very suitable for track days (if you go for the sportier end rather than a touring suit). I wouldnt be bothered buying second hand leathers, buy youself a new one at that bit extra cost, one that fits you well and looks good and it will last you many years.

Re: Deciding On Full Leathers....
Sorry I have not got back earlier, I have been out all day and just got back.
Sorry I did not get to meet you Bones.
I do have one XL 1 piece leather suit left in a light blue, black and silver. In saying that, it is a very small sizing of XL. So if you normally wear a large this would be more appropriate.
I also have 2 piece hybrid leather suits on sale also. $220
Come in a red, black and white, blue black and white or all black.
These are all part of the end of range, so sizes are limited.
Shop is open 9 am to 5 pm on Saturday
and 5 pm tp 9 pm on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings.
