Has any one tried to adjust the rake and trail on a 96 ZX6R? I am interested in getting it to corner a little quicker without getting the speed wobbles at high speed.
if I adjusted the trail by 2mm how much better (or worse!) would it corner.
Also does anyone know what the standard rake & trail settings are for this model from the factory???
Any help would be appreciated.

Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but some abuse the privilege.
Typically shortening the wheelbase quickens the steering up. You can do 3 things.
1. Drop the forks thru the triples (I dropped mine down 10mm!!)
2. Use the rear height adjustment (I had mine wound all the way up)
3. get a shorter chain that allows you to run the rear wheel at the most further in position. (I didn't do this one).
My ZX6R was a track/race only bike and doing the above adjustments I never had a problem with hi speed stability down the fast straights of QLD Raceway.

Hey Mitch, I decided to try dropping the forks thru the triples, moved them 5mm and it seems to have made an improvement with steering, it doesnt get the wobble's up to about 130kph but I havent gone any faster. my chain is new so is runnining at the short end of the adjustment.
might wind up the rear end see what happens.

Good Stuff, a dampner may be a good investment down the track to soften the wobbles on corner exit.
