Brake upgrade question

Post by IrishPete »

Hi guys,

I've posted this on another thread, but was just wondering if there's any upgraded braking components that'll bolt onto a 95-97 zx6r?

I've been looking at the stock calipers and MC and I've a sneaking suspicion that they'll be a bit piss weak under heavy use.

Have also been looking at the Nissin stoppers on my blade and wondering if they'd fit...

I asked the same question... and my elderly memory is telling me that someone said K2 1000's will bolt straight on.

Put a nice ali adaptor plate on and you can make ANYTHING fit, you can 4 pots on an old Ducati if you are keen enough ;)

Alright guys, got a set of K2 calipers from Vic wreckers yesterday, $125 each. A mate is making me some spacers so I can use 8mm(zook sized) bolts in the10mm) kwak caliper bolt holes. Should have the whole shebang done by Saturday, then its stop city!!!

If I may hijack my own thread though, I had a standard 160 PP rear on for the recent Broadford trackday, and kept running out of tyre. Whats size(width) race slick does the F2 take. I got a shagged out 180 rear slick with the bike, but is that actually the correct slick size for the bike?

ran out of tyre? The F series ZX6 had a 5 inch rim and ran on a 160 rear as std (if I remember right). I don't believe you will get a 180 on the rear. I was running Bridgestone soft slicks on mine and was easily able to drag the muffler (and the occasional engine case) along the tar. I found that I was able to keep up some pretty good corner pace (even better than the 400s running ont he same rubber).

I was actually gonna pm you about that Mitch, saw your website and we seem to be of similar dimensions.

I dunno, I reckon I must be doing something wrong. Gonna re-do my sags etc as that may be where the problem lies. I'm back out at broadford in August so I'll have a bit more of a play with the suspension when I'm there too.
I'll be in the medium group this time(went for slow last time to learn my way around) as I now know the rough layout of the track, and hopefully there won't be as much traffic in med either.
