Suggested Mods for 88 GPX750R?

G'day All

I have just about sorted out the essential repairs to my bike and am now starting to think about other possible mods.

Does anyone have any suggestions or better still pictures of various modifications?

I have also read somewhere that someone on here has one of these bikes that has been modified a lot. Does anyone know which member this is or have a pic because i would love to see it.

Well when i had a GPX i put a four into 1 formula-1 system on the bike. It improved performance quite nicely and gave it a nice purr and didn't really need any rejetting or anything. But i put in a dynojet kit anyway to see if i could get an improvement in economy &/or performance. It was possibly a waste of time with the gpx ( i ended up using stock jets and putting the aftermarket needles, springs and other modifications in the carbs) but i was always chasing the purring perfection i could get out of her.

7 million.... I do believe its up to 20 million now after yet another engine rebuild.
I think it has flat slide carbs with pod air filters, cams, zx10 head with over size piston (this could be back to standard now), frame bracing etc.
What did you want to do to the beast... engine mods or just bling factor?

as a previous GPX owner...I have to agree with Mike
a can.... and headers (4-1 works well)


I did no rejetting but I did get the cams 'set' when I had the cam chain replaced
the other thing that works well..is a new foam air filter

other than that there is not much...make sure you replace the front fork oil regularly
with a slightly heavier oil...10W. You will probably find whats in there is..........

Did the lower faring have to be left off due to the four into one? .. or was this a cosmetic choice .... I like it!

I had just fitted the pipes and fitted half the plastic and thought i'd take a pic with half the plastic so i could get the chromey finish in a picture.

I've taken it out with the bottom fairing off and can conclusively say that the bike is a little more flightly and less planted with the bottom plastic missing. Definately worth keeping it on unless you need to take it off.

I mainly want to get a little more out of the motor but some bling wouldn't go astray either

I have priced a 4 into 1 at the bike shop but the guy at Kelen Kawasaki reckons it wouldn't make a lot of difference.

I will investigate this a bit further I think.

I have thought about changing the air filter over but I am still learning and this looks a little complicated for my skills

the guy ...at KK doesn't know what he's talking about
a 4-1 on the GPX has to be one of the best mods you can make
..the 4-1 weighs about 1/3 of the standard factory system
and liberates a reasonable amount of hp

a decent one...Laser or F1 is a bolt up too..simple easy mod
thats worth the $

I'd say a handful hp more, and stock exhaust is easily 3x the weight of an after market system. Also if you put a dynojet kit in, one of the mods is to drill 21 or so holes in the airbox cover to allow an extra 20% air into the filter. Your choice if you do it or not, but if you want HP, aside from going down the million dollar gpx avenue, this is your best bet.
