Z750 [Update] Renthals, PCIII + more
Hi all, been a while since i posted pics. But seeing as i've made a few changes i thought it was time.
Since last time i've bought a BMC airfilter and a PCIII USB. which work perfectly with the Arrow slip-on which i chopped. Also i've made radiator shrouds similar to the Z1000 out of 2mm aluminium plate and sprayed them flat black.
...and of course the latest news is the renthal MX bars. They were a sinch to fit straight into the stock clamp, and with a couple of holes drilled, fitted all the stock controls and switchgear. The pics are self explanitory, let me know what you think.
cheers
Andrew

Re: Z750 [Update] Renthals, PCIII + more
Makes my 06 Z750 in Kwaka Orange look pretty ordinary/stock!!
Hence at the moment no picture until I deem it at least worthy of a chuckle for all and sundry! Still you've set a benchmark and as my money trickles in then i could get here some day! Doesn't help that i commute on it everyday and that i somehow allowed the garage designed for bikes and cars to be turned into a dance studio leaving my bike under the carport covered by a shroud.
Any more mods on the way and if so another set of before and after pics would be good.
Cheers
Griffo

Ahh mate do not dispair, you have no idea how familiar that sounds. This is also a daily rider, although i can keep it in a shedGriffo wrote:Makes my 06 Z750 in Kwaka Orange look pretty ordinary/stock!!Hence at the moment no picture until I deem it at least worthy of a chuckle for all and sundry! Since i started modding it has taken another 12 or so months to get here, so it won't happen overnight, just do little bits at a time.
Biggest thing is don't just think of it as a mode of transport, you have to make the time to fill the tank up and take it for a good weekend scratch on some curvy roads and wear those tyres down to the edge!! make sure you enjoy it for what it is!!
As for new mods, i'm trying to get a rear seat cowl. and i've ditched the renthal bars for the standard ones. The renthals were good around town and in the twisties, but above 150kph they were to twitchy without a dampener. As i can't afford the $350 to $500 for a dampener, it was back to the standard bars. Which since i've put them back on, the bike feels alot more stable and feels faster (as in rider positioning).
cheers

Hey mate,
How do u find the bars compared to stock? I want to put some straigher bars on my Z ? Do u think it does justice to comfort ?

Yeah, i thought the renthal bars were comfortable until i put the standard bars back on, they feel alot more comfortable. and being narrower, meant less leaverage and less twitchy/shackey steering at speeds above 150kph. But as with flat bars the renthals looked better on the bike. Unless you have extended bar risers, flat bars would be as comfortable as clip-ons and you'll be leaning over the tank and on your wrists like a super-sport bike.drewboy wrote:The renthals were good around town and in the twisties, but above 150kph they were to twitchy without a dampener. Re: Z750 [Update] Renthals, PCIII + more
Yeah mick, the bars fit straight into the stock risers, only the bar thickness matters i think it's 3/4 inch?? Rob, anyone, feel free to correct me on that i'm not sure. As for the shape of the bar, anything you like. But i took mine off and went back to stock. Took the crash knobs off though as they rubbed on the end of the throttle grip and wouldn't let spring back to idle on release
. Though they were fun in the twisties.
Oh and Mick, welcome. You should definately post up pics of your Zeddy, not enough on here if you ask me
.
The latest on my Zed is i got some HEL brake lines for the front. Heaps more feel and response as there was heaps of swelling in the stock lines, especially when really squeezing them on. I'm waiting for my brake pads to wear down abit more and then i'll get some good pads which should make it even better. I know alot of race mobs don't make products for Zed's, what pads are people using/recommend??
cheers

Mine are the Superbike bar from AuSFR. ( http://ausfr.com.au/cart/shopexd.asp?id=141 ) They are a bit higher and narrower than the Streetbar and is a much more comfortable position but are still a fraction wider than the stock bar.
It's not the best picture but you can get a bit of an idea what they look like.
