My new project

Post by mickeyd »

It's been a while since I've been on here and I s'pose this is more of a thanks and farewell.

I've decided to get into something different, something I've been toying with for a while.

The ZX14 has gone and I have now bought myself a restoration project, hopefully the first of many. I know this will be ridiculed by many but I want to do more tinkering and get back into simplistic man & machine type stuff.

This beauty doesn`t need a great deal done to it to bring it back to original specs, but here goes ...

Looks like a nice little project mate, certainly far less ambitious than many of the wrecks I've neglected over the years.

As for farewell, you certainly won't be the first member here not to own a Kwak or even a sportsbike. There is certainly a wealth of knowledge here for you to tap into - Gos seems to be the bible when it comes to old bikes of many varieties.

Good luck with the project, and hope you stick around.

Glad to see someone else tinkering with old bikes. I've spent a lot of my life "restoring" or rebuilding old Harleys and pommy bikes.
I got 5 velocettes in various degrees of dissasembly, a '48 Arial single, and most of a 1925 Douglas TS.
I find it really rewarding (and sometimes frustrating :D ) tinkering with these old things. Nothing like spending an evening down in the shed with a couple of beers a few rusty bike bits and a set of Whitworth spanners :D
Half the fun is scouring swap meets for that elusive missing part. The feeling when you finally get one started that's been sitting dormant for 40-50 years is almost indescribable.
It's another thing altogethor, when you take them out for a ride. My neighbours gather en mass to watch me wobble around trying to ride one of the '47 velocettes that's got a lever pull handle start up, right hand 3 speed tank shift and the handling of a pregnant whale
All the best with your new hobby - I think you'll have an absolute ball.
I've suffered from dyslexia, bad spelling and poor punctuation for years. Now it's your turn.
