Anyone have any pics of undertails w/ different taillight?

Post by zennx »

I see these for sale on ebay all the time and was wondering if anybody actually had any pictures of them on their bike. I've searched the internet high and low and can't find anything. I know the second one is fairly new to the market. I already have an undertail kit with the factory light. I was just interested in seeing how these look on the zx7rs. Thanks

Got a Pit Eck one on my ZX7R, fitted easy, electrical had to fit an inline resistor to dim the brake light (was a little bright) so when the brakes were applied you could see a brightness difference thats all. Very happy.

Cheers,

Matt

zennx - check out zx12r.org, and do a search under 'Undertails' - there are stacks of photos of bikes with these type of undertails, and variations of these types. Some look a lot better than others on certain bikes.

I just wish I could fit a decent one to the MFP12 without losing 2/3 of my 'boot'...... :(

as gos said, be prepared to cut out a bit off the standard plastic guard (storage area) under the seat, on the 7 you dont loose much room at all despite how much you have to cut out, i have my Air Ride compressor, valving, pneumatic piping and electrical control in the storage area and still has room for other things, mmmmmmmmm what to put in next.

Mine was a Pit Eck one too. I found the lights in mine anything but bright!!!....in the end I ripped out the original LED's and bogged up a new system that included the cluster replacement taillight/stoplight bulb that you can buy from Dick Smith electronics. This was far superior than the original PIT ECK version. Another worthwhile mention is if you do buy an under tail, make sure you protect the paint with some clear plastic of some sort. The fiberglass tends to chip easily when stones fly up from your rear wheel. Also, the PIT ECK one I had didn't line up that well with the original screw holes...took a bit of doing to install it and a few choice words were muttered under my breath. Otherwise, I was very happy with the end result.
