ZX2r race bike, matty's new project - update 2
Hey guys, been some interest in this stuff so just sneaky peak so you can see where we're at.
These plugs are being built out of remnants of several smashed 7r's and some h%&@a powder blade panels. Still stuffed if i know how i ever got these.
They will look extremely similar to 7r panels but have been cut down seriously to fit and look right on the 2r. I will keep updating the pics as we go.
So far the top fairing has been cut, welded, bogged and given a quick rub back. Same for right hand side.
Left hand side has been cut and bolted in place but yet to be welded.
Plaster cast of 7r tank done and waiting to be cut up to fit.
7rr single seat tail still sitting in corner feeling left out.

damn it, how does that help meRossi wrote:momo wrote:what are you doing so far as performance?

incidentally, i got that zx9r shock today, matty. i think it'll go in with a bit of machining of the mounting points, but i don't have a clue what i'll do about the reservoir intersecting the bottom of the battery tray, and an extra 4cm in length is a bit of a concern.

Performance? What's that? It's a 250.Rossi wrote:It won't go but by fark it'll look goodmomo wrote:what are you doing so far as performance?
Actually not much we can do as we plan to race them in 250 road class so needs to be basically stock.
As for looks, it will end up Gobert replica from his win at WSBk many years ago now. yay the Go Show.

Well the way i see it Ian, i am helping myself. This little trackie will curb my urge to total my pride and joy.Smitty wrote: you can't help help yourself...dealing in broken bikes....![]()

The panels are mainly made up of remnants of the highside you saw sitting in my trailer that night.
Just as a side issue, that 7 is now fully restored, looking very very sharp and pretty much ready to go. Louder than ever, single seat RR style and carbon everywhere. Will register it once the weather fines up a little in a month or so.
Maybe a GP roadtrip is in order...?

An update:
Pink Bitch dropped off all the parts he could find the othr night. This means Lou's 2r can go back together, get a RWC and be registered ready for her birthday. Think she'll love it.
-So I've fitted engine, front and rear ends, and the subframe.
-Subframe has been cut down to within an inch of it life.
-Top and side fairings all welded and bogged. Dummy fitted but still need finishing before making the moulds off them.
-Flopped one of my other 7r tanks with palster and made a dummy fibreglass tank skin. This has been cut down in height, length and width. Still a bit to do here to make it look just right.
-RR tail has been cut down and bogged ready to mould.
Looking good so far, but still a mountain of work left in the panels alone.
Plus i need cams, rear axle, engine mount bolt, fuel tank, and thats before i even contemplate starting it.
Any thought s or ideas at thi point would be great.

Will bolt straight up mate. No worries at all. Only real difference is the headlight and tailights as well as the air ducts in the side of the C. Mechanically same same, cept some have speed/power/rev restriction. But either way, will be dead easy to fit.
