Re: Customs tax cut off...
from memory if its got an invoice value of 1000 or more you pay tax.
only way to get around it is if it is sent as a gift

It was a grand when i checked before getting my can last year. You can check on the customs website for exact and whether they still count "gifts" as exempt as im not sure

Re: Customs tax cut off...
gift or not its still counted in the $1000 cap
Theres nothing to stop you asking them to devalue the item when they ship it either, they can only say no.. its a mixed response. Some sellers tell you to piss off some say no problemo!
Having been through the pain of having a parcel seized as customs for being over the threshold (and all the subsequent paperwork and fees to get it out!) I would suggest making sure its under the 1000 by whatever means Or if its not an option dont have it shipped through the Post, have it couriered - $1000 limit still applies and you will be stung taxes and fees but Toll/Fedex etc will organise all the paperwork for you.

$1000!!! Cool!!! I thought it was only $400 and was trying to talk the guy into sending my exhaust and screen separately so they come in under that!
