and on a side note: i've no idea why people would think that putting small plastic spikes on bar ends would possibly make a 200Kg heap of metal travelling at 200km/h any more dangerous....

Re: fairing spikes and bar ends
It is a sharp protrusion (sp) & is therefore dangerous eg .....you have stack & are sliding down the road with the bike following, if the bar hapens to hit you.... lets say you have a spike bar end
.... you are possibly impailed
but if you have a std bar end there is a high chance that it wont puncture you... another eg... you have a low side & fall under the bike the last thing you want going through your leg is a spike. You might think you look cool but the safety factor far outweighs the bling factor on this one

point taken.... a spike through the leg would suck

def not!!ZX-10R_04 wrote:Plus i dont think they would let you do track days with bar ends like that really
they wont let u do a track day without bar ends... as they may go thru sum1 else in a crash...
keep in mind mate that these pointy fairing bolts poke out.. so if u DO drop the bike, its gunna cause a shit load of damage to ur fairings etc and the brackets that fairings screw to.....

Re: fairing spikes and bar ends
yep, they look hot............until they gore you when you drop the bike in the driveway.......or low-speed lowside on some diesel spill, and the bar-end goes clean through your leg ........
they are shit, they should be banned, they are nothing but a huge fucking wank. They have no place on sports bikes that are meant to be *ridden*, and ridden hard.
I can understand their use on ornamental bikes like *show* bikes that are rarely if ever *ridden* but simply trailered between shows, for prize-winning purposes.
but of course thats just imho, and as you say, each to their own.....
