Quiet Helmets ???
I currently have an ARAI Nakano replica helmet, which cost the earth, is super lightweight, and breathes like no other, but it is that loud, it gives me an ear ache.
What helmet is quiet in the latest range,,,

Re: Quiet Helmets ???
The thing you have to remember when talking about quiet helmets is that every bike directs the airflow across the helmet differently! if you had your helmet and a Goldwing (presuming you don't
) you may say your helmet is the quietest one you've ever worn! your helmet on a naked may even be quiet but with it on a sports bike the fairing may direct the wind straight at your head with the results you have now! so when someone says "X" type helmet is really quiet you also have tolook at what they're riding!
does that help or confuse things more?

Good Luck Toby
I have ridden for 22 odd years & am yet to find the "quiet helmet" I have even had 2 BMW system helmets that were ment to be quiet
These days I use good quality ear plugs

+1 my helmet is quiet on my bike but I need earplugs when I'm on my wifes bike! She's a bit shorter than me and doesn't need earplugs!ducati_paul wrote:The thing you have to remember when talking about quiet helmets is that every bike directs the airflow across the helmet differently! if you had your helmet and a Goldwing (presuming you don't) you may say your helmet is the quietest one you've ever worn! your helmet on a naked may even be quiet but with it on a sports bike the fairing may direct the wind straight at your head with the results you have now! so when someone says "X" type helmet is really quiet you also have tolook at what they're riding!

Re: Quiet Helmets ???
My helmet is incredibly quiet. Haven't heard a thing from it since I bought it! (Maybe that's because I keep it in the bag and it muffles it a bit ha ha!)

Re: Quiet Helmets ???
20 years of motorcycling and numerous helmets over the years, i am fooked if i can find a quiet one. In saying that, they definitely have improved over the years.
I now use an i-pod or ear plugs, both of which have their downfalls.
Good luck in your quest for the ever elusive 'quiet helmet' mate.

Re: Quiet Helmets ???
I found my old CMS helmet that weighs an absolute shitload and doesn't breathe at all is quiter than my Shoei and the Shoei is "fairly" quiet with vents closed, open em up though and it's loud, so what I can assume from that is, if you want a helmet that's quiet, then prepare to suffocate, want one that breathes, prepare for te noise factor
Want both? Good luck! and keep us informed of course please.

A good mate will bail you out of jail, a true mate will be sitting in the cell next to you saying "Damn, we fucked up!!!"
Re: Quiet Helmets ???
All my helmets have been ultra quiet, Shoei TZ1, Nitro, HJC CL14............cause I wear earplugs, and you should too !

Re: Quiet Helmets ???
I also have a top of the range Arai (from 2002) and it is louder than I want (and I always wear good quality ear plugs).
I seem to remember than my previous Shoei was quieter (but that may just be old age).
Most people now ride with ear plugs so the question may be what are the quietest ear plugs you can get.
I use ones rated 26.7db, that is supposed to be the amount by which they reduce noise, about $4 for 2 pairs in discount chemist.
Cheers,
TC
