Cooking in My Jacket

Hi ,
I am after a mesh jacket as I am cooking in my Dririder Highway jacket, can anyone recommend a good deal in Perth or online.

was not funny I am going for my R class and the instructor told me to take my jacket off while doing the figure 8's, I like the rjays octane and airmesh 2 from Dririder so will have to try some on tomorrow at Five star yamaha.The bike I was using was and er5 kawasaki which was surprisingly good to ride.

Why would he do that??? Makes no sense? Surely doing figure 8's and the emergency stop is the most likely time a rider will come off... granted the figure 8's are low speed so maybe a jacket would make no difference but if you can't do them with your jacket on what are you going to do out in the real world... stop traffic... say excuse me.. I want to turn around but I have to take my jacket off first!

Anyway... I have the dri rider mesh jacket... not sure excatly what version off the top of my head... I find it pretty good, though it is 3 years old now and a few of the straps or buttons have come off and the liner is starting to split. I also find that the back armour still causes big sweat patches in hot weather so I have removed it. I find mine is definately more of a summer jacket as it is short, so even though it has a rain liner I find it is not effective and are looking at getting a Noridc or Nordic Pro jacket or similar for winter.

Does 5 Star Yamaha have a good range of stuff... I was thinking of going there myself as they are closer than the MC Strip on Albany Hwy.

I bought myself a Ixon Diablo textile jacket (got it for $150 Pro Kwaka Slacks Creek)

Unlike the Dri-Rider this has a waterproof outer lining so you don`t feel like you are wearing a garbage bin liner. The jacket also has 2 good vents on the front which provide great airflow on the hotter days - just haven`t seen too many of those lately

Sarakoth, I just had it off during the figure 8's, but I went to Five Star Yamaha today and had a look they have a good range of jackets but not many summer ones, also went to Prestige Honda and they had very little(their second hand bikes were very dear aswell), I like the Rjays Jetstream as it's cheap at 150.00 but I don't know who sells RJays in Perth, I called the Motor Cycle Pit Stop and they have a good range so I may have to travel to North Perth.

Try the row of shops at the Causeway in Vic park (Albany highway - City end), you will find most brands of jackets there there it also Total Motorcycle which are opposite Macca's in Vic Park (top of the Cafe' strip) , on Albany Highway. GE Highway Midland also has the 3-4 bike shops along its strip. Lots sell RJays I have the Dri-Rider, climate control I think its called.. it has the mesh, removable liner and also the winter liner so can be used all year.

I have just bought FOX armour I have heard peeps call it a pressure suit?? as I suffer in the heat. Felt very strange and somewhat naked at first, but am now comfy and heaps cooler doing the commute in traffic. Its amazing how acustomed you become to the feel of the full back protectors, I cant ride without one now.

Thanks, went to Albany Highway today and bought a dririder airmesh 2 for $200 no liner but will keep my Highway 2 for winter anyway, missus can't see why I need two jackets but anyway,the guys at the Yamaha dealership there were very helpfull so they got the deal , I also had a look at the new ZX-6 and I don't like the headlights, they make the front look weird, but I did spy the new ducati 1098 Oh what a machine!!!!

Only 2? Cmon ya being a light weight.. ooh just you wait... we had a special cloak room built into new house just to hold the bike gear . 7 helmets, 8 jackets, copious amounts of gloves, leathers etc I no longer count, bet lots on here have megga stashes of gear.

This isn't what I call pretty good. I have a set of Rhino leathers I purchased in England back in 1997, which have really stood the test of time. I have had two significant crashes in them, writing off one bike and sliding a fair way in the second - they are almost unmarked. The only repair they have had in 10 years is a new zipper in the pants. That is what I call 'good'. They are my winter leathers, have been used in snow, howling UK rain (not like the pissy excuse for rain Aus manages) and stiffling heat (Removable winter liner) and nothing has bothered them.
