MSTCV

Found this, a really nice presentation of a club. Perhaps we can do the same to "drive up" the members :)

That's Peter P first up, he is a mint old fella!!! Peter founded the club originally in the 50's when it was just a scooter club! It changed into the Motorcycle Touring club in about 1969 when bikes really took off in Oz. It then changed it's name last year to the Melbourne Sportsbike Riders Club, a name more fitting with the members, what and how they ride. Peter rode EVERY weekend with the club and the last time I rode with him he was Kawasaki GT750 mounted. However, about 8 years ago a car took poor old Pete out and hospitalised him for near on a year. He has now returned to his routes and is riding scooters,a Yamaha 400 from memory. He doesn't get out very much these days as his health isn't the best. But he still comes along to the club meetings when he is feeling up to it! Boy, could the old boy crank that GT over way back then!! I am a former president of the club and originally joined somewhere around 1990!

They ride EVERY Sunday, rain hail or shine!!!

As far as doing a vid goes, maybe we will have to ask the nsw boys and girls to do it, as they appear to be just about the only ones who ride !!!

we could show a group ride in nsw...in qld... and in Vic it would just be strika :P

the SA version would be interesting too i guess... 4 kwakas, a husqy, and a cop bike!!

mind u... im thinking of working on a few more members .. but they are mostly learners...

This is something we should look at, as is having a club stand at bike shows. It's all very well having a sea of green at turn 1, but it makes it official having a stand where people can get information on the club, buy merchandise and see we can be organised. Not sure about wsb/motogp, but I think club stands at major bike show are free.

So was this the club that got you into the long distance touring? That was a good little vid :)

No, these guys do a Sunday ride every Sunday rain hail or shine leaving Melbourne about 10.00am and arriving home about 6 in the summer and 5 in the winter having covered anything from 300 to 700klms usually. Most ride sports bikes, although there is always a smattering of nakeds, sports tourers and the odd tourer amongst them.

What got me into long distance touring, was trying to find more time to ride with all the work travel! 8)
