Need Help from someone in Melbourne Please

Post by kawadoug »

Hi,

I'm thinking of buying a bike which is in Melbourne and would need someone to pick it up for me and store it securely for a couple of weeks until I can get down to Melbourne to pick it up. I'm planning on doing a track day on the 4 Feb at PI so would probably get to Melb on either the 2nd or 3rd Feb to get the bike. Its a track bike only so no rego and would need to be picked up with a van or trailer. I'm willing to kick in a case or 2 of beer or some other arrangement for the trouble. The guy I'm buying it off lives in Cranbourne if thats any help with regards whats involved. He has even mentioned that he would be prepared to deliver to somewhere in Melbourne.

Can anyone help me out please?

I drive to Hastings, through Cranbourne each day for work so that should be no problem.

I also have a 6 x 4 trailer I can use if you like.

More than welcome to call me to discuss, 0421 612 198.

Cheers,

Thanks for the offers of help but its all getting more and more complicated cause the guy reckons he can only accept cash. Doesn't want a bank transfer. Am I a bit dubious that this is all above board? You betcha. So I've told him that the only way I can do it is if I give him the money when I come down to Melbourne. He seems happy with that so I'll see what this all pans out like. Might have to load the el cheapo FZ6 in the van when I travel down just in case this deal I'm looking at is all a fizzer (no pun there) So that at least if it falls through, I will still be able to do the track day at PI seems I've travelled all that way anyhow.

Thanks again

Welllllllll.
Just did a similar thing for another member today - damn near in the next suburb! Also for a Queenslander.
Easy. Transfer the cash to my bank account, I take cash along and inspect - all goes well seller gets cash and I bundle scooter into van. Goes not so well then We say "Good day kind sir" go home and I transfer the money straight back to you. All goes really bad and I take all your cash and buy a bike for myself - actually thats not such a bad thing :D :D
I got a sweater for my birthday. I realy wanted a moaner or a screamer.

I would jump in to help, but I'm taking the Vans head to get reconditioned/change over tomorrow and an unsure when I'll get the van running - Hopefully in time for a trackday in Feb and a trip to ACT in March.

Oh if it doesn't eventuate and if you have a spare spot on your trailer for the return journey I know someone who requires a bike to freighted up your way!

Hi Slow & Wobbly, Thanks again for your offer and phone call. Much appreciated. Looks like you might have 11 in the double garage in the near future. Although I just looked up where Sunbury is so I guess I will have to get a real map of Melb so that I can find your place on the 2 Feb. And then find my way out to Phillip Island for the track day on the 4 Feb. I'm also onto some race glass for the bike in Wantirna. Is that anywhere hear Cranbourne? Might be able to pickup the bike and the raceglass in the same trip. Well actually if you didn't have anything to do for a couple of weeks you could take off the road gear and put on the raceglass for me as well. Not asking too much yet, am I?? Just joking about fitting the raceglass. I'll wait for your PM. Thanks again

Hi Adrian,
This all sounds too good to be true. Are you sure that you're not a nigerian scamster who will disappear with all my money. I'll get some more info on the raceglass and let you know. That'll be an extra $400 on top of the bike price I'll have to transfer.

Thanks the offer to stay. If its only 2 hours down the freeway I might actually take up that offer as it will then give me somewhere to changeover the raceglass on the 3 Feb and then I shouldn't have to worry about the road fairings and either drive down and sleep in the van on Sun night or just get up very early on the Mon morning.

Much appreciated.

Geezus Mike , what would you know . Adrian is one of the most shifty bastards I have ever met , and having met Doug while visiting Sydney and at Broady when he was on his "lets visit every track on the East Coast" tour of 07 , can vouch that he is perfectly shifty also .
They should get on famously :D Here is a photo of Slow and Wobbly being real happy about stealing my spanners

Now its looking better. I have a face to the name & phone number. And thanks for the vote of confidence from 'the kid'. Yes, I do remember running into you at the race meeting in sydney at Oran Park and the pub we stayed in. Also now remember you guys at Broadford as well. Memories of that great trip still linger for me which is why I'm doing this and fitting in a track day at PI on the 4 Feb and then on the way home, hitting Eastern Creek for a double header on the 9 & 10 Feb.

A mate then wants to come back down to Syd for the Barry Sheene Memorial weekend over easter so the poor old van will be getting some miles up pretty quickly. Oh well, I don't have a lot more to do with my retirement except spend the kids inheritence. Wife is still working so I'm a free agent. And it will mean a track day at Eastern Creek again and also one at Wakefield Park and I think they will have the new surface by then. Should be good.
