hhhmmmmm, not just cold tyres, but new cold tyres. Seems like a good time to lean and power - what a fuckwit. And this is just one of the reasons newbies are discouraged from buying 1000s - they will spit you off with EASE.

Too right Mike. An experienced rider should have been able to ride that out!photomike666 wrote:hhhmmmmm, not just cold tyres, but new cold tyres. Also agree with that - I had the 10 further out than that in the wet and saved it - Stereo was behind me, he'll vouch for me...Strika wrote:Too right Mike. I don"t know that I agree with you lot
It seemed very gentle and no doubt surprising to the rider. It was not like he gave it even a moderate twist to cause this.
1. New tyres are slippery due to the mould release applied to them - it allows them to be released from the mould the are made in and it acts as a preservative whilst in transit and storage. Given this all it takes is a wipe down with prepsol or similar to remove it before riding on them. Or incredibly gentle and judicial use of the throttle. Experience may count but exactly what is the reaction time in this Vid between the rear letting go and the sudden thump?
2. I hope that this rider had an agreement in place with his insurance company before riding away from the dealership

Naaa he was on the gas hence the 10KPH highside
If the tyre just let go it would have been a lowside

Nope still don't agree Rob.
Revs didn't rise at all. Angle of lean promoted the low speed highside. Slippery tyre.
Watch it over and over and see how easily it occurred.

Just watched again......
Revs did rise but I doubt they reached 5k. it was gentle acceleration. No more than anybody else would give.
