due for a new rear b4 xmas has a 190 pilot and was think,n bout placing a 180 pilot on
only cause they recon ill turn in a bit faster but would the 180 wear the same as the 190?
after the front is gone thinking bout match,n pair of shinko,s
anyone had shinko,s on zx9r ?
just want to compare them with the pilots
The Shinko front is a work of art. Better grip, feel, stability and longevity than a Pilot Power. Very confidence inspiring.
The rear profile is way too flat, at least in a 190. This makes it necessary to really muscle the bike into corners. I'd be tempted to try the 180, given the front's performance.
I got nearly 8000km out of a pair of Shinko 003 Ultra Softs. They were still legal, but the rear was nearing the wear indicators when they were replaced. They do tend to go a little greasy when really warm (read overheated), but they're very predictable.
Leave the 190 on it and raise the rear end up , It will make her turn in heaps easier help keep the front end down and you get to keep that fabulous fat arse There are a few posts on her about raising the rear end 2000/01 models are real easy to do other models might require new dog bones
It's a speed thing if you have to ask, you wont understand
I find Metzler M3's in a 120/70/17 and 180/55/17 to be a mighty fine combination for grip, handling and around 6K from a rear!
I've also run Rennsports and Racetechs on it, which have amazing grip but a shorter life than the M3's! Mind you I can still coax 5K from a rear Racetech! The turn in on these is really sharp without instability. Once again I ran 120/70 180/55.

There are really only two questions in life. 1.Which way do i go? 2.What is the lap record?
I tried a set of M3s and wasn't that fussed with 'em to be honest. I've gone back to BT014s 'cause they warm up quick, wear well, give good feedback and the price is pretty good too.

I wasn't necessarily unhappy with them, I just wasn't all that fussed with 'em. I didn't think a lot of the profile, they're a bit flat and didn't tip in real quickly. Added to that they weren't cheap and I didn't get great life out of them. It's tough, because almost any new tyres will feel heaps better than the worn out ones that came off, but I just think the bike feels more "alive" with the Bridgies on, I have a better feel for what the tyre's doing, and the profile is nicer. They also warm up by the time you get to the end of your driveway.
