ZZR600 Exhaust-Removing Restrictor/Baffle - Anyone done it?
Hey Guys and Girls...
Just wondering if anyone has, or has owned a ZZR600 and has had the baffles/restrictors removed from the exhaust.....
I have been thinkin of going Aftermarket cans... But a Mate of mine who does Bike and Car Custom work can remove them for me for $100.... SO I figure why spend $1000+ when I can spend $100....
So whats other ZZR600 Owners done??
I would hate to have them removed and then Find out its too F####N Loud....
I have also asked him to look into getting baffles that can be welded in, that can be removed if i want them out ( eg. screw on/off ones).

There's a sticker on the frame that tells you how loud your bike can be.ZZR KWAKA wrote:So no one has taken out the Baffles?????

I was of the understanding that that metal tags just states at what decibel the bike runs at.... Not what the loudest it can be....
Thats my interpretation of it.... I may be wrong.... May have to duck into QLD transport to find out that info then??

And as far as i'm aware the EPA is only seriously NAZI about it in NSW at this stage.

taking out the baffles will make your bike slower, and take away a lot of low-down torque.
It will *sound* louder, and this often makes people think because its louder it must be faster, but that is just a myth.
Save your $100, add a few more, and buy a decent 4-1. Your bike won't be over any sound limits, you won't attract any unwanted attention, and a good 4-1 will weigh quite a bit less than a stock system, so you will get a handling benefit as well.

I just wrote a post that said almost exactly what Gos just said.
Definitely go a 4-1 if you're after power, but more importantly, some money spent on the suspension (rear particularly) wouldn't go astray.

Which brings us back to Megacycle. ZZR600 doesn't have a massive range of pipes on offer alas, one that is available is Megacycle, currently on mine and at leasat one other zzr600 here. They're in Melbourne, so if coming down for the supers, might be worth booking in, your call, fwiw I paid $575 for mine and that was installed by them. They offer a weld on kit for about 450 from memory, bit of fucking around installing it whish is why I let them do it, they have the workshop after all.

Yeah well unfortunately...(or fortunate I think).... I live in Brissy..And wont be going down to Melbourne anytime soon....
So going into Megacycle isnt a possibility.....

You could try Pipemasters in Slack's Creek if you really just want slip ons. I have one on my ZX9R - it's a reasonable pipe, but without a baffle it's LOUD. I'm not sure they have 'em for the ZZR600, though.
