New ER-6n oggies

Post by 6maniac »

Just got these from Kawasaki after 7 months. Reason for replacement was the RHS bracket of the originals cracked after approx. 5000km.

Yes I know its filthy - its a time management thing!!!

G'day Bonester, these are the genuine Kawasaki items.
Kawasaki call them "mushrooms".

They look heaps better than the round oggies. How much are they? A friend of mine wants them for hers. I did 50km on the ER6 yesterday. Whatta sweet bike! :D

Yep it is familiar, and I agree on the seat issue. I'd have to have a sheep on one. Fuggin brill bike for less than $10k. I was trying to work out how the pistons operate by listening to it- I wonder if they are on the power pulse at the same time? I reckon if Kawasaki made it with a 270 degree crank like the TRX850 I'd have one in a flash! :)

Mine were warranty replacements (due to RHS bracket cracking) - dealer said they were more exy than originals - about $300.

Just wondering. Did you get a new frame as well for your ER6N?

Hi kanduli - the bracket holding the "mushroom" cracked, not the frame. The pics are of the new crash knobs - so far no probs ( 36,000 km ).

Actually it was not the frame that cracked. it was the weld that attached the engine mount bracket to the frame. So they replaced the frame with a new frame with a bracket significantly better welded than the previous one. Now I cannot use the oggie knobs I bought with the bike. If yours is late 2007 model you ok. But if it is 2006 or early 2007, there could be an issue with right engine mount bracket welding.

Interesting Ron. I had the original oggies on my ER, and they certainly did the job!

Those look much sturdier though. Did they say if it was a common problem with the originals?

No feedback from Kawasaki, Wendy - but the dealer had the same issue with an N he had sold to a courier, i.e. RHS .
