Can i get some thoughts on this bike please..

Post by Blue14 »

I am looking at buying this bike as a scratcher for myself, but more so something the wife can ride as well. I am not too sure if this is a good price etc.. Please give me all your thoughts.. :D

This has been my daily commuter since 2000. The bike was bought as a demo from Cosways with 4000km's on the clock and I am the only owner since.

The motor is completely standard and it has been fitted with a few accessories to make riding easier. These include Progressive front springs and braided front lines for better braking. Bar end mirrors for viewing traffic. Heated grips for comfort on cold mornings. A Ventura rack system to compliment the cavernous under seat storage area. But the polished rims are just for show.

The bike was serviced by Pablos until they moved and then by Cosways. Pablos still do the tyres. It has done a few km's but is totally reliable rain hail or shine. Gets around 400km to a (22l) tank, starts first touch and is basically a ripper bike.

My job doesn't really permit me to ride as much as before. Whilst the old girl is a fine scratcher when the need arises I have now bought a Buell XB9 for weekends and so the Kwaka has to go.

I think your URL is broken - it's now pointing to a zx7r that's been on there for ages. I'm guessing earlier it pointed to a zephyr 550 or something similar.

I still get a ZX7, but I went and surfed the site and found the one you are talking about. Mate, it's worth $3k in my opinion! :)

now the link points to a stockman 250

and the engine on the zr7 was in fact a zephyr 750 engine....oil cooled 738 (i think) cc's.

Which first saw the light of day in the 1982 GPz750... oil-cooled, two valves per cylinder, direct sleeved-down descendant of the Z1.

not quite - the GpZ750 motor was a descendant of the 1976 Z650 motor - this was a motor in its own right, not a sleeved-down Z. The baby 650 had a Hy-Vo primary chain for the primary drive, not a gear drive as per the Z motor. There are a few other major differences as well, but they do look reasonably similiar.....

Its quite amazing that the motor in a ZR7 can trace its lineage back over 30 years ! not many other manufacturers could claim that (pig-ugly boat anchors from Milwaukee excepted of course :x )
