Okay, now I'm new to the 600's, and the 250 definately had the K noise.
The 600 has a rattly noise at 60k/h in 2nd, and at about 70-80 in 3rd. It stops if you back off the throttle, or change up.
Is this the 600's version of the Kawasaki rattle, or possibly something worse/dire? Felix has only 15K on the clock, and is an '02 model. Would like another opinion before warranty expires, as the mechanics at work assure me its just "the famous Kawasaki rattle".
All thoughts appreciated.

Mine has a clutch rattle and am assured it's nothing a) to worry about and b) short of spending $400+ nothing you can do about either, having saud that, mine has 8 years and a 100k k on your beastie....

If you're on your original chain, it's time for a new one
.
Mine did the same thing as the chain stretched to a point where it was time to replace it...check your sprockets as well.

yea... was gunna suggest a loose chain or worn sprockets as the possible cause... makes gear change a bitch too...

Re: ZZR600-"Kawasaki" noise?
Hi new here, spent hours looking around but finally registered when I read of this problem. I have a pretty good hunch that the noise you are referring to is the chain touching either the centre stand or the exhaust. Heard what sounds like the same noise that you describe and a chain adjustment fixed it straight away with the added benefit that the gear changes will smooth right out.
