Which oil ZX10R
Righto, just purchased an 05 ZX10R and have sent it straight in for a 12000klm service. Peter at lawrence drv Pro Kwaka asked me if I wanted to put in the 50/100 or the 70/100.
What are you guys using and what are your thoughts?

Re: Which oil ZX10R
I'm using Castrol GPS Semi synthetic in my 10 and 7 atm..
The next change will be to Castrol R4 full synthetic as it was cheaper than the semi at the Supercheap sale a while back...
or contact William the Q8 oils guy, he'll look after you and its pretty good from what I hear..

Re: Which oil ZX10R
wohoo I'll check it out tomorrow
as for oil either is fine
i think he means the 5100 or 7100
the 5100 is fine for normal riding, while the 7100 is more edged towards hard riding and track days.

Re: Which oil ZX10R
I still have a heap of 5100 on the shelf so I will prolly stick to that if it is recommended.
I do changes every 2-3 track days but for the 10 I have no idea what is in it & seeing as its only got 4,000 ks on the clock (as I bought it) & has only had one service listed in the owners book, I will change it sooner rather than later.

Re: Which oil ZX10R
I've currently got Motul 7100 in it, I've had the Q8 full synthetic stuff. In my ZX9 I always used Motul 5100, chnaged it every 3000klm's, thrashed it around a track 3-4 times a month and it was fine.
I think they're all pretty good these days so long as you change it regularly.

I also use this in the race bike. Buy at Supercheap auto and save 50%!!!sp500 wrote:Fuchs - Silkolene pro 4 plus 10/50 fully synthetic, bike is for the track nowadays, not cheap at around $100 4lt, but is like a fine wine....
On an aside - don't they recomend waiting until 8000k before running fully synth? Something about inhibiting the full bedding in process. Some fully synths don't play nice with a wet clutch either. Semi synth can be a better option.

Re: Which oil ZX10R
All but my last change have been done by the dealer and they used Motul 5100, so I used it myself when I did the last change. I might have a bit more of a look around at what's available for the next one though.
