Z750

Post by BikerBoy »

Hey,

Test rode, an 05 Z750 on the weekend, was pretty sweet and smooth ride, gears were a little clunky.
Was surprised by the power it had down low, has anyone ridden both a Z1000 and Z750.. ? ? is there a huge difference in power?

And what would you expect to pay for an 05 in decent condition with 3500kms? i thought the price tag was a little steep at $9750, tried to convince the dealer to throw in a micron slip on for that price, but he wouldn't have a bar.

There is a fair difference between zeds... the older 750's get some very standard parts compared to the same year thou & if you have controll over the right wrist then the extra power would be an advantage. For me its that the 750 offered everything I needed for the road.
I paid $9500 with 9000k on the clock from mrstompy (on this forum) & the bike was immaculate... that was a year ago :D

i think for the extra 2k it would be worth getting the warranty of a new one and a new bike smell if he wont budge on price. Tell him you will go new and elsewhere and get a personal loan for the remainder

yea thats what i thought jew jew

What i forgot to mention was that the bike was totally bone stock for that price! Been searching on bike point and bike sales, and i can get an 04 or 05, with carbon can, fender eliminator, clear lenses, rego, service history etec etc for that price and lower.

tossing up whether to go brand new or go second hand with all the mods already completed.

I just know if i get a new bike, within 3 months i'm gonna want a slip on, high flow and rear tidy up, there's another $1500 plus.

maybe i'll just wait till the new z750's ca be negotiated down.

The 07 is a better model & has USD forks (crap ones but better than the 05) wavy disks & would be a better starting point
or you could spend up big:

mate i had a dealer refuse to drop his price on the z1000 (had an 03 with 8000km and wanted $11k..with a few scratches) ...i went to another dealer and for an extra $3k i had a brand newy... with NO SCRATCHES and no flogged motor (until i got hold of it)...

as stated the 1000 has better forks (not by a huge amount i guess?? but USD) ... an extra 15-20HP maybe??

but i thought new z750's are going at abt $11k ish??

Rob,

Why did you replace the suspension on your Z?

Is the standard suspension that crap??

or is it more for racing?
or because your very tall or very short?

Does it brake easily? have problems, need constant servicing of the shocks?

cheers

The Z750 suspension pre 07 was shite ...... pogo sticks comes to mind!
I have had high end bikes previously so I guess I have been spoilt & had become used to good gear, I was not happy with the standard gear on the zed... the motor is perfect, the upright position is perfect ... just what I want in a commuter but hated the suspension & brakes basically.
For the average punter that wants a reasonably good package then the zed is great, Im just a bit picky

personally.... i dont think the thou is as bad as ppl make it sound...

for avg road use its fine, and compared to older bikes, certainly better....

if i was racing it, i might be concerned and doin a bit more with it...
