Wondering what to buy your 10 month old son?? Well why not a 12 guage Beretta shotgun..

Gun owner ID card issued to 10-month-old

Bubba Ludwig cannot walk or talk - but he does have an Illinois firearm permit for his very own 12-gauge shotgun.

The 10-month-old, whose given name is Howard David Ludwig, was issued a firearm owner's identification card after his father, Howard Ludwig, paid the $US5 ($A6) fee and filled out the application, not expecting to actually get one.

The card lists the baby's height (68.6cm), weight (9kg) and has a scribble where the signature should be.

With some exceptions, the cards are required of any Illinois residents purchasing or possessing firearms or ammunition within the state. There are no age restrictions on the cards, an official said.

Illinois State Police oversee the application process. Their purpose, said Lt Scott Compton, is to keep guns out of the hands of convicted felons, those under an order of protection and those convicted of domestic violence.

"Does a 10-month-old need a FOID card? No, but there are no restrictions under the act regarding age of applicants," he said.

Ludwig, 30, of Chicago, applied for the card after his own father bought Bubba a 12-gauge Beretta shotgun as a gift. The weapon will probably be kept at Ludwig's father's house until the boy is at least 14.

Ahhh Yes. Good ole redneck USA. where the best they can come up with to stop mass murderers is to give everyone guns...cos then someone will shoot the killer first.

i dont see the problem.....

its not like he could pick up, load, aim, fire, clean and put away a shotgun!! he's not even 1 yet...

mind you, if he could, no-one at day care would mess with him.... what a great thing for show n tell!!

I think reason they do that is because the country is over populated and they need to exterminate some humans so why not let them waste each other to lesten the pop

He owns a gun so needs a licence - that I can understand, but why would his grandfather buy him a gun in the first place?
