Oran Park - Its almost over

Post by MadKaw »

Housing boom hits the west
May 11, 2007 12:00am

UP to 20,000 homes will be built on Sydney's fringes under a major land release, creating new communities serviced by schools, shops, police stations, golf courses and cycleways.

In a deal with the State Government, developers agreed to pay 100 per cent of infrastructure costs - including roads, water and sewerage - on almost half of the new properties in Sydney's fast-growing southwest.

Construction is expected to start next year on 12,000 homes at the Oran Park and Turner Rd precincts of the southwest growth centres.

Land for an additional 8000 homes also will be fast-tracked for release at East Leppington and Lowes Creek after five developers entered negotiations with the Government.

Growth centres are to deliver 181,000 new homes around Sydney - boosting the population by 500,000.

Announcing the land program yesterday, Planning Minister Frank Sartor guaranteed infrastructure, particularly transport, would be provided to serve the new suburbs.

A rail link to the new communities is in the early stages of planning.

Houses would be built no further than 400m from public parks and open spaces linked by a network of walking and cycle routes. Bus stops are planned to be no more than a five minute walk from homes.

Mr Sartor said the Oran Park and Turner Rd precincts would house about 33,000 and create 7700 jobs.

"These plans will create liveable communities for hard-working families with a mix of housing, jobs, schools parks, transport and seniors," he said.

"Importantly, these precincts will offer a choice of housing including houses, units and terraces for young singles, couples and seniors."

The Oran Park precinct includes 7500 dwellings for around 22,000 residents. Turner Rd will have 4000 new homes for about 11,000 residents.

Oran Park and Turner Rd will share in $438 million over four years for infrastructure.

Plans including regional road upgrades, community and recreation facilities, five primary schools and a high school will be on public exhibition for six weeks.

Acknowledge you on this point, as the current water catchments can't cater to the number already in existence... Apparently, Warragamba was only ever built to cater to a population of 2 million, not 6 million. Wonder where in their infrastructure plans they've taken this into account! Will probably be an after thought as usual

Here are the dates for the rest of the year for Oran Park meetings run by the PCRA............

10 June 2007 - Oran Park GP circuit

29 July 2007 - Oran Park South circuit

2 September 2007 - Oran Park GP circuit

29/30 November 2007 - HRR NSW State Titles - Oran Park GP Circuit

then, the fat lady sings.............. :(

There will be other series events run here as well I guess (maybe another round of the ECRRS ?) -

If you have ever wanted to see bike racing at arguably Australia's best 'road' racing circuit, this is the last year to watch it.

If you have ever wanted to do a track day at OP, then better get organised soon........

Once its gone, we can all look forward to the "New, Improved" Oran Park circuit that is already slated for development a bit further to the SE of the current track....... :P :P :P

Sydney may even have a GP as early as 2012.......

According to James Spence form Circuit Breakers, they are taking track bookings till the end of next year.
He spoke to the GM out there and its believed they will still be open in 2009..
the new track will open in 2010ish...

They must be keeping it open whilst the development goes on out the back area.

They would be silly not to keep it open as long as possible, I'll have a talk to a couple of the senior guys here at work, they are tapped into all the local developments in the area and would have a good idea of whats happening at what time.
