Im now officially a kwaka owner

Post by Vukie »

So i ended up putting a deposit down on an 06 kwaka from the dealer on saturday :o . I just have a few questions....

What comes with the bike?
- How many keys?
- how many books/manuals, what sort?
- Do i get a tool kit? whats in it?
- How do you open the boot? lol

I have a tool kit from my old bike just wondering if i should keep it or let it go with the bike?

Now for mods, where do i get them from and what are they worth? im after a
- Double bubble
- Fender eliminator
- Clear lense kit
- Single seat cowl

Thanks for all your help, looking forward to clocking up some big k's on the 636 8)

I'm guessing that it's either a new bike or low K second hand. In either case you should get at least 2 keys, 1 owners manual, one warranty logbook (shows services etc), and a toolkit containing all the necessary tools to perform maintenance on the bike (I've heard that you could completely dismantle the bike using just this kit - dunno if that's true or not)

Leave it with the bike.

I'll leave the other questions for others with more idea of what's available in your area.
Ain't nuthin to see here..... move along

Depends on what model of Kwak it is as per how to open the boot. The 10 has a keyhole in the ducktail just at the back of the riders seat. It should have 3 keys - two black to use as your ride key and a spare, and should also have a red key which is needed during service to access the engine management and also to program the black keys (assuming they are coded keys).

To answer your question, provided its a 06 636, What comes with the bike?

- How many keys?
i got 2 black keys and the spare red master key

- how many books/manuals, what sort?
i got a booklet with the bike manual and a warranty card

- Do i get a tool kit? whats in it?
Yes, i got a tool kit, its under the pillion seat on the back, just had allen keys and spanners, mostly stuff so u can undo most of the nuts and bolts for doing most basic stuff

- How do you open the boot? lol
I was a bit confused also, but its easy to find, if u stand on the clutch lever side of the bike, u will need to get down on your knees, or at least bend over! (ducks for cover!!!!!)
now just about near where the main riders bum sits, if u look below where the clutch side cheek would b (depend on the size of your cheek) look under the duck tail and u will see a key hole!

hopefully this has answered the Q for u

Everything you listed above is on ebay either here or in the USA.
The us exchange rate right now is excellent.
There is also the site sponsors who will stock some of that stuff and are known to be pretty well priced.

the double bubble is the first thing to buy IMHO. just makes the bike a little more comfortable to ride. i got mine of ebay in australia for cheap but it isnt as good a quality as the more expensive ones. like power bronze or puig etc

single seat cowl - you can get a genuine kawasaki one for about $200 locally. i reccomend a genuine one otherwise the color could be a little bit off.

Fender eliminator - just make one yourself - it is pretty easy (if you have some tools that is) a few people here have done it. i will do a post soon on how i made mine.

great choice of bike. congratulations - you will love it.

Hey guys,

thanks for the help, i got a new 06 636, apparently one of the last in aus.

They quoted me on the parts i wanted but i think i can get them cheaper on ebay:

- Clear lense kit font and rear $100
- rear cowl $230
- Tinted Double bubble $180, can remember brand though.

I think ill wait a while for the bank account to recover then buy the screen, cowl and blinkers can wait
