Pinched from the MRA website.

Cross-country motorbike rider beheaded by piano wire

A MOTOCROSS rider has been decapitated after piano wire was strung between two trees on a farm, Italian police revealed yesterday.

Marco Badiali, 48, a father of two, was beheaded in front of other riders travelling at 60mph. Officials suspended the competition and called in police, who were last night questioning a local farmer in connection with the death.

The tragedy happened as Mr Badiali, an electrical engineer, was riding his high-performance Yamaha 450 in countryside near Modena, Italy.

Ferdinando Barbieri, a friend, said: "We walked the course the night before and the wire was not there - someone put it there deliberately. It's unbelievable. Marco was killed in front of us.

"The wire was put there on purpose by someone with the intention of killing a rider and whoever it was has achieved that."

A police spokesman said: "A local farmer is being questioned in connection with this death but we are releasing no details about him. We are also looking for others in connection with the incident."

after Stone was released in 1974, there were a few copy-cat attempts around Sydney at the opening scene.............I don't think any of them were succesful, unlike this one....

Had this happen in the Oberon State Forest during the Hardly Ferocious 500 (dirt bike races) with a couple of injuries between 1976 and 1978, was suggested that it was a couple of disgruntled farmers who objected to noisy motor bikes scaring the cattle. Also had some weirdo re locating cow pats to tight corners and taking pickies of riders comming off, got that one when he dropped the camera and bolted back into the bush.

Murder plain and simple - and just some guy innocently our for a ride on Sunday too.

Seems to be a growing aggro between dirt riders and residents happening and judging from this it's world wide.

Had a recent less drastic experience about a month or so ago meself at popular riding state forest close to Melbourne (Mt Disappointment). Arrived back at the cars after day of dirt riding and all 7 tyres on my car and trailer (inc. trailer spare tyre) had been stabbed and deflated. My car plus 2 mates cars at same spot as well as 2 other groups a couple of kms further along the road.

Redneck cocksmokers. Reckon this'll be the farmer that the police are interviewing for sure.
Just one more law and everyone will be safe.
