Nolan N81 vs KBC VR-1X Helmets
Nolan N81 vs KBC VR-1X Helmets
HI all,
I am looking at getting a new helmet, but budget constraints are keeping me to around $300.00.
I have been trying on a few helmets and found the two in the title bar to be the most comfortable and was wondering about any feedback from anyone here that has got/had/loved/hated one (or both) of these.
My main interest is wind noise, but any info would be appreciated.

Love my KBC's, crash tested one and its cool.
They look very good and are good quality.
Not rapt in Nolans (wouldnt have one to be honest, just my opinion but) so I cant comment on the noise in them.
KBS (with all the vents stuck on them) ares a bit wind noisey but I wear ear plugs so i dont care.
I think Nolans suck BUT its just my opinion.

Just because you CAN ride, doesn't mean you SHOULD

Try an OGK! As an avid Arai wearer for over 15 years, I have found the OGK to be the next best thing. I paid less than $300 for mine. (plain Black OGK Aeroblade FF4)

if i were you, i'd try and save for a little longer to get a better helmet.
I commute daily, so weight is also a big issue for me.
I bought a Shark RSR recently, pretty at $550 they aren't cheap, but after riding a while you will notice a huge difference in your neck.
OGK FF4's are also meant to be really light and a little cheaper too.
best advice.... try as many on as you can first.

Id go one of them, they look cool !
I tried on about 10 different buckets on Saturday morning at both PS and Sharptune in Dandenong.
I eventually settled for the Nolan N61 Melandri Replica.

Sorry about crappy pic quality, taken with phonecam
I liked the Stoner one, but they only had them in L & XL.
Each of the N61's I tried felt comfortable, and I didn't want a plain one.
Did 500 k's with it on Sunday, minimal wind noise, no fogging, light as on the head.
Very happy with the purchase
