Immobliser keys....good when they work.
Out on the 10 today, stopped for lunch, returned to bike, insert key and turn to start, hit starter....no fire.
Immobiliser light still flashing and so is key symbol on dash, take key out, retry, still dead, repeat, nothing.
Jiggle ignition module, reinsert key, press start and it fires...
Anyone else suffer intermittent immobiliser technology on their new bikes?
This kind of stuff is good when it works but when it doesn't your screwed.

Wise words... don't lose the red key otherwise you can't start the bastards once you've reconnected power if you've taken the battery out etc.
Maybe start it with the red to reset the electrical thingamajig

Yamaha uses the same 3 key system now and a mate here had his keys stolen - including the red master key - to his 2 week old 07 R1.
One ignition module and ECU later, he was finally able to start his bike!
Moral of the story is definitely don't lose the red key!

You can't get these cut like normal keys, as they have a chip in the key handle to match the ignition barrell/immobiliser ? Thats why you *don't* lose the Red key, or you are up for a complete new ECU and ignition barrell with new keys all round.........it costs a f'n fortune !!!Benno wrote:You also need the red key if you plan on having anymore of them cut.
